Ricky Lightfoot, a sponsored mountain runner from the famous Lake District in the Northwest of England, was enjoying his day in the country when he heard cries coming from somewhere nearby. “A few weeks back while out on a route on Great Gable I could hear a noise through the wind, I didn’t want to ignore it as it sounded like it was in distress.”
Heading towards the bleating, Lightfoot discovered that a lamb had gotten itself stranded in a gully on the edge of the mountain with nowhere to go. So Lightfoot descended that ravine. Relieved to see his would-be rescuer, a lamb bounced towards Lightfoot and seemed eager to follow him out of the ravine.
With a few helpful lifts over the steep sections, the lamp happily followed Lightfoot across the mountain and back towards its mother.
The distance to his family combined with the sheer sides of the cliff was too much for the little guy to handle on his own, so Lightfoot carried the baby sheep most of the way wrapped in a bandanna.
In an adorable moment, the little lamb waited, looking back at Lightfoot as he cleared a few rocks out of his trekking shoes.
