Police Officer Attends 5-Year-Old’s Funeral As Spider Man, Going Above And Beyond To Serve The Boy’s Family

5-year-old Joshua Garcia tragically drowned in a swimming pool on April 2, 2016. After his mother reported him missing, Officer Damon Cole of the Fort Worth Police Department was the first to be on the scene when Joshua was finally found.

Rather than wearing all black to the funeral, his friends and family celebrated Joshua’s life with something special. They planned a Spider-Man-themed (his favorite superhero) funeral at which Officer Cole dressed in a full costume.

This way Joshua could be laid to rest with Spider-Man by his side. Officer Cole went on to say that, “anything that I can do to honor his memory, I’ll do it.”

While this story is one of loss, it also is one of such love and touches our hearts deeply.
