Trees have an incredible way of making us feel small – not in a negative way, but as if we’re part of something bigger. They supply the oxygen we breath and sustain life of all kinds around the planet, covering 30% of the earth’s surface. Of all the forests’ trees in the world, one of the most famous has been growing for thousands of years in Sequoia National Park, California.
‘The President’ is one of the tallest trees on earth and has been growing for 3,200 years. The giant sequoia stands 247 feet tall and 27 feet in diameter! According to NatGeo experts, when you account for the overall width and above-ground size of ‘The President,’ it very well could be the largest tree on the planet.
This video not only inspires a sense of awe at the natural world, it is a reminder of how strong and powerful nature can be when we give it room and time to grow. Every day we lose over 6,000 acres of forest habitat. It’s up to all of us to preserve what we have left and make this world a better place for future generations.
