9-Yr-Old “Guardian Of The Galaxy” Sends NASA Brilliant Argument For Why They Should Hire Him.

A recent job posted on the USA Jobs government website has the internet freaking out. From Twitter to Reddit and beyond, the job posting has been met with hilarious memes, theories, and thousands of likes and shares.

So what is this job that has everyone talking? A position at NASA as “Planetary Protection Officer.” Yes, you read that correctly!

While the first image that comes to mind when you hear “Planetary Protection Officer” is probably not very far off from what the rest of the internet is thinking, the actual job description is not as action-packed as you may hope.

The first part of the job involves making sure that any of our NASA missions or satellites that we send out into outer space is free of organisms that could pollute other planets and our solar system.

Second, and a little more interesting, the duties include protecting our own planet from aliens… alien organisms that is.

Basically, this means that if a meteor crashes on our planet, the Planetary Protection Officer would be sent out to the crash site to investigate and confirm that no deadly viruses had just been introduced to our planet.

Something that is even more interesting is the length of time that this job role will last for.

The USA Jobs posting states that “the initial appointment will be for 3 years, with the possibility of extending for an additional 2 years,” causing everyone on the internet to wonder, just what does NASA expect to happen to our planet in the next 5 years?

It’s obviously a little out there to start coming up with alien theories, but the thoughts are provoking some hilarious reactions on Twitter.

By far the best response to the most amazing job opening ever posted was this letter below written by a fourth-grade boy named Jack Davis.

After hearing that NASA was searching for a Planetary Protection Office, Jack decided that he was very highly qualified for the job and wrote a pretty convincing and adorable letter to NASA. When his dad’s friend heard about the letter he knew he had to share it on Reddit with the world, and we are so glad he did!

Read below to see what Jack had to say:

“Dear NASA,

My name is Jack Davis and I would like to apply for the planetary protection officer job. I may be nine but I think I would be fit for the job. One of the reasons is my sister says I am an alien also. I have seen almost all the space and alien movies I can see. I have also seen the show Marvel Agents of Shield and hope to see the movie Men in Black. I am great at vidieo games. I am young, so I can learn to think like an Alien.

Sincerely,

Jack Davis
Guardian of the Galaxy
Fourth Grade”

How perfect is this letter by Jack?! We’re convinced that he is perfect for the job, and– while they may not be ready to hire Jack yet– it seems NASA sees the potential there, too.

Good luck, Jack! Never stop reaching for the stars.
