The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, provides possibly the most entrancing, dramatic, and magical sight in all of nature.
Technically, the Lights are the result of electrons colliding with the upper reaches of Earth’s atmosphere. As NorthernLightsCentre describes: “The Northern Lights are actually the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth’s atmosphere with charged particles released from the sun’s atmosphere. Variations in colour are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding.”
Though there is a scientific explanation for the occurrence, it’s really just the display that steals the spotlight.
