Mercy Me Sings National Anthem From Top Of Capital Dome, Stuns Crowd Below With Incredible Acoustics.

Washington D.C. houses some of the most magnificent works of architecture in America. From the Eisenhower “Old” Executive Building, Union Station, White House, Presidential monuments, and of course the Capitol Rotunda. The world famous band, MercyMe, found themselves at the top of the Capitol Rotunda recently, and couldn’t help testing the acoustics of the echoing halls.

The four musicians then began an acapella version of the national anthem that will absolutely give you the chills. Beginning in unison, the band quickly split off into a 4 part harmony and their voices bounce through the epic expanse. A small crowd starts to gather to wait for the Star Spangled Banner’s triumphant finale and they were not disappointed.

MercyMe and their spontaneous story immediately reminded us of time 1,000 high school choir students from Kentucky began singing the National Anthem in their hotel lobby. Both of these performances are incredible in their own unique way.

You have to wonder if the people milling around below, realize the performance they’re in the presence of… but it’s more likely they think the incredible melody is just another song playing in the background.
