Dad’s Custom Gravestone For Son Is Inspiring People Everywhere.

On September 23, 1988, Utah couple Ernest and Anneke Robison welcomed a baby boy, Matthew Standford Robison, into their lives. The couple was overjoyed at the birth of their son, but their happiness was cut short when the doctors came in with bad news. Due to a lack of oxygen during pregnancy, Matthew was born blind and paralyzed from the neck down. Doctors said it was likely he’d only live a few hours.

But Matthew defied doctors’ expectations, and he shared ten and a half joy-filled years with his family before passing away peacefully in his sleep on February 21, 1999.

His entire life, Matthew was confined to a wheelchair, and he could only say a few words, but he managed to bring all who knew him so much happiness.

Ernest and Anneke knew that Matthew deserved an extraordinary grave-marker to commemorate his extraordinary life. Matthew brought so much light into their life, they couldn’t leave him with a sad and gloomy gravestone.

So Ernest designed and commissioned a beautiful monument, just for Matthew.

Ernest and Anneke went on to start their own charity in Matthew’s honor, Ability Found. Their organization provides assistive equipment to those with disabilities.
