Dedicated Husband Spent 2 Years Building Garden For Blind Wife, The Smell Brought Her Back To Life.

In a small town in Japan, a beautiful tradition attracts over 7,000 people every year – and it’s all because of one man.

Mr. and Mrs. Kuroki bought a large piece of land in Shintomi Town, previously a dairy farm, after they wed in 1956.

But because of diabetes complication, Mrs. Kuroki sadly became blind after 30 years of marriage.

This affected her so much that she began taking on a personality like that of a recluse, isolating herself completely. So being the amazing husband he is, Mrs. Kuroki thought tirelessly to come up with a way to bring her back.

His solution: First, to overwhelm another one of her senses: smell.  Second, to get people to come visit her every day to cheer her up! And the way he accomplish both was through an astonishing garden of pink shibazakura flowers, a Japanese flower known for it’s beauty and aroma.

It took two years for Mr. Kuroki to complete his attraction. Chopping down trees and planting a garden were the main tasks, but he finally finished his beautiful garden.

And his wife was delighted.

Even in her blindness, the smell brought her great joy.  But the best part was that people began to show up from all over the place.  Neighbors and tourists alike flocked to her garden.

Now, the garden stands as a symbol of beauty and hope. Most importantly, it allows it’s visitors to witness love in action; the love of a husband who brought his wife back to a place of happiness.

It’s breathtaking.
