Hugh Jackman Reveals Secret To His Happy Marriage Just Before 20th Anniversary.

Most Hollywood marriages seem to begin and end these days faster than you can say, “I do.” But more than two decades after Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness said those two little words to each other, they’re still going strong and as in love as ever.

Jackman, who stars as circus founder P. T. Barnum in the upcoming biography “The Greatest Showman,” and Furness, celebrated 21 years of marriage earlier this year. In an interview just before the 20-year mark last year, he said these are the most important words to live by: “Happy wife, happy life.”

“I’m married to the greatest woman alive. She’s amazing,” he said.

Jackman, 48, and Furness, 61, met in 1995 while working on the Australian TV show Correlli. While she was “already a big star, I was a nobody,” and he found himself tongue-tied and nervous around her, along with all the other men on set.

He finally invited her to a dinner party with about 20 other guests, but still couldn’t muster the courage to talk to her until she confronted him about it, asking whether she’d annoyed him or done something else to get on his bad side.

Emboldened by a couple of cocktails, he admitted to having a huge crush on her – and was obviously pleasantly surprised to discover she felt the same.

“And I’m like, ‘Oh great!’ So that was it.”

Jackman even discussed meeting the love of his life on The Ellen Degeneres Show. “It gets better and better, I can honestly say that. She’s the greatest thing that ever happened to me.”
