When this Texas couple adopted newborn Emily Ruth, they wanted to introduce their precious daughter to the world in a big way. Now I’ve seen some great pregnancy announcement and gender reveal videos, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone surprise a loved one after the baby is already in the crib!
Michael, father of little Emily Ruth, didn’t tell anyone about the adoption. So when his mother comes to visit, she is shocked to find a nursery– with a baby already in it– in her son’s home. And her reaction is moving. She nearly collapses to the ground, and can barely speak, whimpering with emotion until she finally asks “Can I hold her?”
When Dan’s replies, “Yes, you can hold her, Grandma,” it brought tears to my eyes. You can tell by the emotion in her face, that she is beyond excited to be called Grandma!

Grandma definitely isn’t the only one excited. Michael’s Dad instantly pulls out his phone to take a picture. Dan is obviously elated over their baby daughter and couldn’t wait to share the news. “Grandma’s surprise! Newborn baby. She doesn’t know anything about it,” he says at the start of the video, practically bouncing with excitement.
“We got the call at 8:30 Thursday morning,” he says to the grandparents. “They said ‘there’s a little girl if you want her; you’ll take her home in three days.'”
