This kind of love is unforgettable.
When Ash Ruiz was just a child he would spend hours singing with Grandma Jean. One of Ruiz’s favorite songs to sing was the Nat King Cole classic, Unforgettable. Every year on his grandmother’s birthday, they would sing it together.
When I was 8 years old Grandma Jean taught me how to sing ‘Unforgettable’ by Nat King Cole because it was her favorite song and I was to sing it with her for her birthday every year.
Fast forward a few decades and we find Ruiz sitting on the edge of his now 98-year-old grandmother’s bed. True to tradition, Ruiz asked Grandma Jean if she wanted to sing ‘Unforgettable’ with him. Though she could hardly respond, Ruiz knew his grandmother’s wish and started singing from the heart.s
“I have the most precious memories of my Grandma Jean doing everything with a song. It didn’t matter if she was doing laundry or making lasagne, she was always singing and her voice was rich, velvety and beautiful.”
Ruiz sang through the Nat King Cole classic while his grandmother watched on. As he neared the end she began to cry and wipe away a tear.

Grandma Jean lost her singing voice in her late 80’s but it’s clear her love for music, and her grandson, hasn’t faded a bit. It must be so wonderful for an elder to hear her grandson singing a timeless classic so near to the heart.
