Glowing Shrimp Transform Rocks On Japanese Beach Into “Weeping Stones”

Trevor Williams and Jonathan Galione are a photography duo out of western Japan. They recently took to the Japanese coast to photograph naturally bioluminescent “Sea Fireflies” along the rocky shore, and what they came away with was breathtaking.

Sea Fireflies are actually tiny 3mm shrimp that live in shallow water and feed at night. It’s thought that their luminous glow is a means of communication… but whatever it’s purpose it is incredibly beautiful. Check out their photo series, The Weeping Stones in the compilation below.
