When a young man heard panicked cries coming from a pit in the ground he leapt into action.
Jacob Butler was walking through the woods in Sacramento, California when he heard the desperate cries for help.  Running toward their direction, Butler found a hole in the ground that must have been five feet deep. Peering through the darkness, Butler’s heart dropped at the sight of a weeks old fawn curled up at the bottom.

The young man called his father, Geoff, who in turn called Animal Control. Animal Control quickly arrived and the trio began to form a plan to rescue the little one. Together, the big hearted men were about to experience a beautiful moment.

The Animal Control employee managed to slip a ‘catch stick’ over the neck of the young animal, pulling the baby out of the pit by the scruff of its neck.

Butler, his father, and the rescuer spent a few moments comforting the animal while looking for its mother until finally they were rewarded with the sweetest reunion ever.
