Aside from the actual marriage itself, the father-daughter dance is often one of the most emotional parts of a wedding for the bride and, let’s be real, everyone in attendance.
So when one newlywed took to the dance floor to have her special moment with her dad and was surprised with an original song that he had written her, serious waterworks ensued. But seriously who could blame her?

The video, uploaded to YouTube, shows the bride’s father, Robert David, take to the microphone at her reception and begin to give a speech:
“Six months ago, Kayla texted me and asked me what song I wanted to play for our father daughter dance. She mentioned two of my all-time favorite songs and she said that one of her friends would be happy to perform them. And my response to her was, ‘Don’t worry about it.’ And her response was, ‘Uhhh….’
A bout of chuckles arises from the audience, and you can sense that something incredibly sweet is about to go down.
“Over the last six months I’ve been asked on a number of occasions what song I picked. But I’ve gotta tell you, I didn’t pick a song. I wrote a song. And I hope you like it.â€
Is your heart melting or is it just us?! The song begins to play as a montage of photos documenting Kayla’s transition from adorable baby to beautiful bride fill the screen, including snaps of her dancing with her father. The lyrics detail personal moments from her childhood as well as how proud her father is of the woman she has become.
It’s a total tearjerker–Robert is definitely in the running for “Father of the Year.”
