As any fan of the The Ellen DeGeneres show knows, Ellen loves scaring people. She’s known for sneaking up on celebrity guests or pulling elaborate pranks on them for a good laugh, but it turns out that Ellen doesn’t just enjoy the act of scaring, she likes watching people be scared! We learned this back in 2010 when Ellen sent a writer named Amy to a haunted house. Then in 2013, Ellen put her Executive Producer, Andy, in the haunted house with Amy. Their experience was so hilarious– and Andy’s reactions were so over-the-top– that it quickly became the new tradition to embarrass Andy every October!
Perhaps the greatest of these annual haunted house bits came in 2014, when Andy went through Universal Studio’s “Dracula Untold” haunted house/maze. This time, Andy went with his assistant, Jacqueline. “I would like to tell you that they handled themselves with grace, composure, and dignity” Ellen says in the video below, “But that would be a lie.”
The video that follows is absolutely hilarious! You can definitely tell that Andy is an Executive of a major TV show as he attempts to manage every aspect of the maze, scolding the actors along the way or commending their good performances, all while shaking in his shoes! Jacqueline goes through most of the maze wide-eyed, looking genuinely freaked out. It doesn’t help when her boss uses her as a human shield at one point, literally throwing her into one of the “vampires!” But she takes it like a champ.
