Dolly Parton is one of the coolest, most well-loved celebrities out there. With her uniquely-Dolly persona and her adorable giggle, it’s impossible to frown when you’re watching her in interviews like the one below. And– even better– she has an amazing life story!
In the video below, she tells Jimmy Fallon about growing up in the mountains of Tennessee. She was from a big family, with 6 boys and 6 girls, and the family always struggled to make ends meet. “We didn’t always have things that money could buy or even the stuff that we wanted to eat. But we always had something.” the singer tells Jimmy. “My mother had a great attitude. She’d say things like, ‘Well kids. If we had some ham we’d have some ham and eggs, if we had some eggs!'”
She tells Jimmy she used to sing on the porch into a tin can, dreaming of performing at the Grand Ole Opry. It’s amazing to think that such a mega-star came from such humble beginnings!
But, even though Dolly is now a country music icon, she’s still retained that down-to-earth attitude and her sense of humor! The best part of the video below comes when Jimmy asks Dolly about her wigs.

“Well, I do wear wigs all the time cause it’s so handy and I’m always so busy!” Dolly says. “So I really enjoy wearing the wigs.” That’s when Jimmy pulls out one of her wigs… And Dolly responds by daring him to put it on.
“I can’t believe he’s doing it!” she squeals as it puts on her wig.
