Cagney Wenk finally went to the doctor after experiencing headaches for several days. The diagnosis was enough to leave anyone in shock.  Wenk was suffering from a highly aggressive, Stage IV cancer called glioblastoma. The grim prognosis came just three weeks before the due date of his first child.
Fast forward three weeks, and Wenk was recovering from several brain surgeries in the ICU at Boulder Community Hospital in Colorado. His fiancee Jessica began going into active labor. Wenk’s nurses not only reached out to an organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep to document the birth of Wenk’s first child for the family to cherish forever but they brought Wenk to the delivery room to see his child be born. The couple was able to meet their new son, Levon, together in a beautiful and emotional moment.
The photographer from Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, Sarah Boccolucci, was blown away by the great lengths hospital workers went to make the moment happen. It was obvious that they were equally impacted by the emotional experience.
“There is a point during the birth where Cagney tells Jessica that they are surrounded by all the love in the world right now,” Boccolucci said. “It is my hope that people will see the video, feel the love this family shares and help lift them up.”
Check out the incredible moment in the video below. Oh, and you will want to grab some tissues.
