When 22-year-old Craig Colton took the X Factor stage, his goal was– of course– to wow the judges… but he also had two other people he particularly wanted to impress: his mom and dad.
“My mum and my dad are inside, and they don’t know that I’m auditioning,” Craig explained to the show’s host as he prepared for the audition. It turns out, he had lied to them, saying that he was at work that morning. “I wanted to give them a little surprise.”
And they certainly were surprised!

Craig had lured his parents there by saying he’d bought tickets to watch the X Factor auditions but couldn’t go anymore. The unsuspecting couple thought they were just there as spectators… but when Craig walks out onstage, they can barely believe their eyes!

Craig of course acknowledged them from the stage, clearly pleased with himself for pulling off such an epic surprise. Then– after charming the judges with his charm and wit– he launched into a brilliant cover of Adele’s “Hiding My Heart Away,” definitely no easy feat.
The phenomenal singer was awarded 4 “yes”s from the judges and happily left the stage… but not before stopping to wave to mom and dad first!
