All over the US music programs are disappearing from schools at an alarming rate. Music is an essential part of cultures all over the world and kids should never be denied  the chance to learn the craft. New Orleans has an incredibly rich musical history, but in the wake of Hurricane Katrina many school programs have all but disappeared.

That is why The Roots Of Music was created: To offer free music lessons to kids 6-14 to preserve and perpetuate the rich musical history of the region. It’s a place for kids to get help with their homework, get a balanced meal, and be a part of something bigger than themselves. Roots of Music sponsors the dreams 0f 150 kids, but they need our help to grow.
