Teach sustainable farming and sustain resource-deprived kids.

“We are creating a resource-rich, safe place for youth empowerment and sustainable community development” – Nat Turner, Founder of Our School at Blair Grocery

In 2005 New Orleans, LA fell victim to Hurricane Katrina.  It was the costliest and most disastrous natural event in US history, causing nearly 1.8 billion dollars in damages and widespread unrest in the local community. In the aftermath, government organizations supplied emergency relief but couldn’t offer the long-term support that New Orleans neighborhoods needed to recover and rebuild.

Katrina left a slew of problems in its path, but Nat Turner, the founder of OSBG stumbled upon a solution.

That is why Our School at Blair Grocery (OSBG) was created: to teach usable skills to youth living in resource-deprived environments. OSBG provides a hands-on environment to learn basic sustainable living skills -like urban farming, irrigation, animal husbandry, and nutrition- and act as a buffer for youth who need a break from tough circumstances.

It is a noble cause that deserves everyone’s respect! So help us empower underserved youth with the knowledge they need. All you have to do is watch and share InspireMore stories.  The more you do that, the more advertisers pay us, and the more we are able to give to this important cause! Get started today; let’s make a difference.
