Hurricane Harvey is officially the most expensive natural disaster in US history. The once in a thousand years flood submerged much of the metropolitan city under feet of water, paralyzing Houston and the surrounding port cities.
As of Thursday morning, insurance companies had received about 100,000 claims for cars hit by Harvey’s flooding, 75 percent of them totaled. Some estimates say Hurricane Harvey damaged an estimated 1 million cars.. but the cost has yet to be fully counted.
Perhaps most upsetting is the staggering loss of 136,000 homes and countless other possessions Houstonians hold so dear. The most vulnerable people lived in run down, crowded flood zones – most losing every materiel thing and some even losing their lives.
Organizations from all over the world are stepping up to raise money to rebuild the lives of the people of Houston, but one has really stepped up to make a difference.
J.J. Watts of the Houston Oilers used his non profit organization as a launchpad for raising money for the people of Houston. The much loved Texan and war veteran can be trusted to use all of the money to help the people of Houston directly and has already raised over $18,000,000 for their relief.
This week, we are partnering with the J.J. Watts Foundation and big hearted givers from all over the world to help rebuild the city of Houston.
