End childhood hunger in Rwanda.

In 1994, the swiftest genocide in history took place in Rwanda. More than 800,000 people were killed in just 90 days. The wake of the massacre left the country in shambles and every part of their economic system in chaos. In 2001, there were more than 600,000 orphans living in Rwanda and this is when Africa New Life stepped in.

Africa New Life exists to transform lives and communities through acts of compassion. At the heart of their model for breaking cycles of poverty is educational sponsorship. In order for educational sponsorship to succeed, children need a stable home, a healthy body and a community that is developing.

A developing community is fueled through the food and care program that Africa New Life has created for these kids. This program, one of many Africa New Life has created in Rwanda, allows for kids to stay focused and invested in their schooling. Most kids in Rwanda are 2-3 years behind their peers developmentally – and malnutrition is the main contributor.

While this is only one of many things that Africa New Life does, this is one of the biggest needs that Africa New Life has at this time. This is because food in Rwanda becomes more expensive each year, and Africa New Life will serve around 1.2 million meals this year.
