Parents Mourn Death Of Son, Then Friends Tell Them “There’s A Video Online You Should See.”

Ben Breedlove was a bright, good-looking, joyful teen who captured the heart of anyone who met him. Not only did Ben’s peers and family adore him, but his popular YouTube vlog attracted followers from around the world, making him something of an internet celebrity.

A typical episode on “Ben’s” featured Ben giving out advice, particularly relationship advice. But two videos– called “This Is My Story” parts 1 and 2– have gone particularly viral. That’s because these videos became Ben’s final message before his death.

Ever since Ben was a baby, he and his family knew his days were numbered. At Ben’s 3 month checkup, the pediatrician heard a heart murmur. That murmur persisted, and a heart doctor diagnosed baby Ben as having hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In other words, Ben had a “thick heart.”

Because of this condition, Ben nearly died on several occasions. But– while the fact that he managed to cheat death three times is amazing in and of itself– the most incredible part of these near-death experiences is the amazing visions he had. Visions that Ben insisted prepared him for Heaven.

The first vision came at age 4 after a life-threatening, 45-minute seizure. Ben recalled seeing a bright light in the hospital. No one else saw the light. Even as a toddler, he was certain he’d seen an angel.

Years later, Ben suffered a cardiac arrest (his second by that point) in high school. During that episode, his heart stopped beating for a full three minutes before he was revived. Ben later told his family that– during that time– he had “woken up” in what he called “the waiting room of Heaven.” There he felt a profound peace.

After he came to, Ben decided that God had given him the vision so that he wouldn’t be afraid of dying, “so that he’d know that Heaven was worth it.”

Just a few months later– on Christmas morning– Ben passed out while jumping on the trampoline. He never woke up.

Ben was 18 years old when he passed away.

Some friends of Ben’s family asked Ben’s parents what they thought of “the video.” Ben’s parents had no idea what they were talking about, and that’s when they discovered Ben had posted his story to YouTube just days before his death. When they watched the videos below, they became certain that Ben is now somewhere more full of life than ever before.

Today, the video has almost 9 million views on YouTube.
