When patrons purchased tickets to the closing night of Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center’s production of Beauty and the Beast, they had no idea that their night at the theatre would end watching a real-life love story unfold! The Florida theatre’s production of the beloved musical was like any other… until the very last scene of the final performance, when a man walked onstage in Beast’s costume– a man who wasn’t even in the company!
As it turns out, the ‘Beast impostor’ was none other than Belle’s boyfriend in real life. And while she was totally confused by his sudden appearance (along with the rest of the cast and crew), she quickly was overwhelmed with excitement when he dropped to one knee and proposed! Right on stage!
According to the video blow, Belle’s boyfriend had been secretly rehearsing with the directors, planning to “switch roles with the prince in the final scene & propose.” The video shows him rehearsing the final song with the help of the directors, learning the music and choreography in order to seamlessly fit into the final scene. And his performance– and proposal– are flawless!
“Your life partner is waiting for you,” says the director as she leads him through the backstage.
