When Mitchel Craddock took a group of old friends to the woods for a bachelor party, they expected to spend a few days goofing off and four-wheeling. Instead of a weekend of revelry, the men were making breakfast their first morning away and looked to the door to find something they least expected.
“The first morning we were there, we had the front door wide open and we’re cooking bacon and we look over the front door to the cabin we’re staying in, there is a dog sitting there, sweet as can be but would not come inside,”Craddock said.

The men could tell that the dog had recently had pups, but was dehydrated and malnourished. They lept into action, letting her eat and drink to her heart’s content.
“She was very dehydrated, hungry. I mean everything we gave her she gobbled up as fast as she could,”said Craddock.

After resting for a moment, the new momma began making milk again. They followed the dog out into the woods and noticed she was protecting a particular spot in some dense brush. On closer inspection, the men found a big hole in the ground teaming with seven newborn puppies.

“We set each pup individually down in front of her, and she nuzzled their faces, and she checked out the pups, and to the person holding them, she gave the look of ‘It’s OK, I trust you,’”Craddock said.

The pups were dirty and covered in fleas, but each and every one had “a big fat belly.” Their momma had given them everything she had before seeking help from these kind hearted batchelors.

All 8 dogs, including the mom, were adopted by Craddock and his groomsmen who all live within a 5 mile radius. Craddock proposed to his girlfriend with a chocolate lab puppy, so to bring home another on the eve of his wedding just seemed like the perfect twist of fate.
