Nothing illustrates the indomitable human spirit more than the power of song.
Breast cancer survivor, Jessie had just finished her eighth round of chemotherapy when she decided to ring the “chemo bell” at her treatment center. The chemo bell represents a symbol of completion, and of victory, for those who have endured one of medicine’s most difficult yet necessary treatments.
But it is what she did next that is going viral.

After ringing the bell, Jessie’s nurses asked her to sing for them.
During her course of treatment, they had heard her beautiful singing voice and wanted to hear her make a joyful noise in celebration of her successful fight.
In the video below, Jessie stands in front of the camera, bald from her grueling battle against the deadly disease, and begins to sing. And this is proof that words mean so much more when you have lived through them.

In fact, Jessie had to stop several times due to overwhelming emotion. But she manages to make it through the first verse of the song before rushing into the arms of a nearby loved one.

Her song is a celebration of triumph for her, her family, friends, and the staff that treated her. It is a such a powerful moment and such a beautiful reminder that we are not alone and we can overcome even the hardest trials.
