Lauren Diaz has loved singing and playing the piano for as long as she can remember. She grew up with music in her heart and played her favorite tunes over and over again. Four years ago, Lauren had a son. The beautiful little boy became her world, so much so that she quit singing and playing the music she loved so much. But recently, the song in her heart began to rise again.
Lauren decided to audition for this year’s season of The Voice. Knowing that her favorite artist, Alecia Keys, would be one of the coaches on the show, she made a bold decision. Instead of playing it safe, Lauren decided to sing one of Keys’ most famous tunes,”If I Ain’t Got You”.
Seconds into the audition, Keys jumped at her buzzer and watched Lauren do her thing on stage, cheering her on the whole time. The natural born superstar nailed every aspect of the tune. By the end of the performance, coaches Miley Cyrus and Blake Shelton unsuccessfully fought over the singer, because everyone knew in the end she would pick her idol Alicia Keys.
