Adele & Darius Rucker Bring Lady Antebellum Singer To Tears With Emotional “Need You Now” Duet.

Lady Antebellum’s 2010 hit “Need You Now”has special significance for international superstar Adele. The emotional essence of the song, inspired her to recreate the feelings for her own listeners. So she wrote the chart topping, “Don’t You Remember.”

“It’s got quite a country tinge to it. What gave me the courage to try to do that musically was ‘Need You Now,’”she said.

Which is why her performance with fellow singer Darius Rucker of ‘Hootie and the Blowfish’ at the 2010 CMT Artists of the Year Ceremony was so emotional. They had been asked to cover that inspirational song.

As with most love ballads, “Need You Now”is a timeless song of which pretty much anyone can relate — especially anyone who’s thought it’d be just a great idea to check in on an ex after a heavy night of drinking, Adele jokingly told reporters.

“It’s just one of those songs, the minute you hear it … ‘a picture-perfect memory scattered on the floor’ … I’ve never heard two voices work so brilliantly either,”she explained of the original song. “It was incredible. I saw them live in Minneapolis about a month before the CMT (special), and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.â€
