Dublin shoppers may recognize the face and voice of street busker Allie Sherlock.
At only 12 years old, Allie has already made a name for herself singing on Grafton Street, one of the main shopping streets in Dublin. More recently– as of about six weeks ago– her fame has expanded to worldwide recognition thanks to a viral Facebook video.
Her international fame was sparked when Allie posted a video of herself covering Ed Sheeran’s “Supermarket Flowers,”surrounded by dozens of admirers. The clip has been viewed millions of times since it was posted on May 29.

Despite earning praise from around the world and releasing a CD, Allie plans to keep her music as a hobby and pursue a career in childcare. Still, she is open to the possibility of playing to a larger audience and is reportedly waiting to hear back from the Ellen Degeneres Show.

“I want to keep practicing all the time and singing, and so it’s like a hobby really,”she said. “Maybe I’ll do weddings. I’d like to see what happens in the future before deciding anything.â€
