Rio de Janeiro is one of the most visited cities in the Southern Hemisphere and is known for its natural settings, Carnival, samba, bossa nova, balneario beaches, as well as the 2016 Olympics.
It hosts the giant statue of Christ the Redeemer atop Corcovado mountain, named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
This image features the favelas, one of the poorest sections of the city. Artists have teamed up to make these dilapidated shanties something beautiful, and increase pride among the residents, by expressing their artistry on the outside walls.
